Friends of Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus
We are fortunate to live in Buffalo, a community that prides itself on being a “City of Good Neighbors;” however, it isn’t like that in other parts of our country and the world. The Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus plays an important role in this social movement because of our music. Music builds bridges, enhances communication, breaks down stereotypes and humanizes the “other” in powerful ways. Music is a transformative part of community building. It has the power to transcend boundaries and create connection among people from different backgrounds, languages, beliefs, and has long been a central part of social justice movements.
Marking our 18th season, the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus strives to continue its tradition of producing high- quality, vocal music that not only entertains, but enlightens our audience. We are a group of forty-five gay, bisexual, and gay-affirming men who are committed to making a difference in our community and in the lives of others.
Our supporters play an important role in helping us realize our vision to be ambassadors of brotherhood and of community; embracing diversity and to be motivators of social acceptance, not only for the LGBTQ community, but for all those who have similar songs in their hearts. Ticket sales only cover a portion of our operating expenses, so individual donations are crucial to the continued existence of the BGMC.
The BGMC is incorporated in the state of New York as a nonprofit organization, and is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Your “voice” and generosity bring enlightenment, inspiration, healing, empowerment and harmony to the greater community and to each of us. Your contribution ensures the continued growth and success of the BGMC. The singers, volunteers, Board of Directors and all members of the BGMC Family offer a very special and heartfelt thank you to each and every Friend of the BGMC regardless of the size of your gift. We are most grateful!
We are fortunate to sing to over 2,500 people at our concerts and outreach events. While this is impressive, ticket sales alone do not cover our operating expenses. We are a self-supporting organization who rely on membership dues, ticket sales, donations to the Friends of the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus, and program sponsors like you. Sponsoring an ad in our program will align your business with others who proudly support the Arts in our diverse community.
Be sure to reserve your sponsor ad space in our upcoming concert series today. Please contact Jeffrey Strauss, Executive Director, for pricing options.
Your business will be represented as one of the many that support the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus and the LGBTQ+ community. The deadline for reserving your advertising space is Nov 15th for our holiday concerts and May 15th for our summer concerts.
Other Ways to Give
In Our Causes Own Words
Thank you, thank you… thank YOU! Thanks to donors like you, Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus has raised $101.35 so far through this amazingly simple, no cost to you, donation platform, iGive.com! AMAZING!!
Don’t forget to utilize the iGive donation options when doing your holiday shopping this year. Together, we can work to raise even more money simply by shopping at iGive’s partner sites and clicking the iGive button to confirm your donation to Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus. If you are anything like me… the simplicity of having all of my holiday gifts delivered is a HUGE benefit during this busy time of year… so most of my gifts come from online stores, and almost all them are iGive partners!
The iGive Button does it all for me! I have the iGive button on all of my browsers so I don’t have to “think” about it… it just tells me if I am on a partner site and asks me to confirm that I want to give. If you don’t already have the button (the little dandelion seed next to your browser), please consider downloading this option. It makes donating even easier so you never miss an opportunity. Get it here: http://www.igive.com/button/
Another great way to give back: tell friends to use iGive to help Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus via Facebook, Twitter, or go “old school” and just send them an email. Go to iGive’s tell-a-friend page to make it easy: http://www.igive.com/html/tellafriend.cfm.
Together we can raise money for Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus without spending anything we wouldn’t already be spending. And isn’t that a gift in itself? It sure makes shopping more bearable to know that the store is giving part of my purchase back to help our cause.
